ABS Audio Newsletter: "You should never eat less than 1200 calories".
Issue 44: Is there a bottom limit to reducing calories?
ISSUE 44: How low can calories go?
Welcome to the 44th issue of the ABS Audio Newsletter. Today we have a very interesting topic to talk about. That is a very bold and widely spoken about taboo; dropping below 1200 calories. You’ve heard fitness influencers, coaches, perhaps even doctors and dietitians make this statement. “No one should EVER eat less than 1200 calories”.
You should be aware by now the relationship between energy balance and weight/fat management (see above for a refresher). So, does this very absolutist claim hold water? It would seem that some very reputable professionals are making the claim; that should increase the chance of its validity, right? Unfortunately, this is a completely made up threshold. There is nothing about 1200 calories that is special. For some, it’s simply necessary to reduce further in order to continue to get leaner. But why? For who? Can’t we do anything else?
All that and more explained in the audio conversation you’re about to listen to!
The outline of our conversation:
1. General intro.
2. The evidence?
3. Who may have to do this?
4. What are the overall options at this juncture to consider?
5. My takeaways and motivational sendoff!
I greatly appreciate your viewership; catch you all in the comments. Stay tuned for the 45th issue next week!
