Issue 49: I missed a week of training; what do I do?
ISSUE 49: Managing a lapse in training (vacation, illness, etc).
Welcome to the 49th issue of the ABS Audio Newsletter. Today’s topic for discussion revolves around missing time in the gym. Life happens sometimes and it can be both positive and negative things. I just had a coupling of both within the last week. I scheduled to go to Florida for 4 days as a mini-vacation and to visit my aunt and uncle. That trip happened and it was great; hit the beach, kayaked, and made fond memories.
A 4 day break is no big deal, but then I started feeling ill. Seemingly getting a pretty bad head cold midway through my trip. When I got home I tested and realized it wasn’t a cold, but rather COVID-19. Four years removed from the start of the pandemic the virus had finally gotten me. Fortunately, I only felt like I had a very severe head cold with immense sinus congestion and recovered after about a week. Monday was my first training session post trip and illness. What did I do to get myself back into the groove again? What things did I keep in mind when getting back to training?
