ISSUE 14:
Coaching Conundrum: Inconvenient truths when dieting.
Welcome to the 14th edition of the ABS audio newsletter. Today we are discussing the some of the truths that, while inconvenient to us must be acknowledged and overcome. We all want progress; most want it “yesterday”. As quick as possible is generally the next best choice. I’ve had to face these obstacles throughout my journey as well over the course of the last decade. Mistakes have been made, lessons learned, progress achieved. That said, the lessons are perhaps the most important.
Dieting, particularly for fat loss, has several unpleasant truths. It’s the job of the coach to assist the client to achieve these goals in the safest and most effective way possible. However, there are some measures that need to be prioritized for the overall health and safety of the client. These measures may end up being contrary to the short term desires that the client has/claims. Hard conversations, sometimes need to be had, and lines in the sand may need to be drawn and adhered to.
The outline of our conversation:
1. “I'm eating in a deficit but not losing fat”.
2. “I just want to keep dieting for another 10 lbs”.
3. “I don’t want to get too bulky”.
4. Wants vs Needs
5. Honesty about priorities/goals.
6. Motivational sendoff!
I greatly appreciate your viewership; catch you all in the comments. Stay tuned for the 15th issue next week!
