ISSUE 12:
Training 101: What are the priority recovery principles?
Welcome to the 12th edition of the ABS audio newsletter. Today we are discussing the fundamental concept of recovering from training. This general training principle is among the most critical for making, the much desired, progress. But, why is it so important? Well to put in simply we don’t get better when we train. We actually get better from recovering from a stimulus that was sufficiently overloading.
Review: The principle of SRA discussed in last weeks newsletter.
As you can see our ability to perform is suppressed following an overloading bout of exercise. However, after recovering from that training we achieve a supercompensatory adaptation (increased ability to perform). This allows us to overload in a progressive manner and keep moving the needle forward (more gains in strength, muscle mass, etc). So what things do we need to focus on to cover our recovery bases? The priorities are listed below; lets discuss.
The outline of our conversation:
1. Training within our recoverable limits
2. Getting adequate sleep
3. Meeting our target nutritional conditions (as best as we can)
4. Stress Management
5. Relaxation
6. Training Modalities (Deloads, Light Sessions and Rest Days)
7. Motivational sendoff!
I greatly appreciate your viewership; catch you all in the comments. Stay tuned for the 13th issue next week!
